Sustainability Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
Sustainability Reporting
SIPEF is committed to transparent and accountable sustainability reporting. Since 2022, the Group has published an integrated annual report presenting financial, environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance in a consolidated format. Prior to this, sustainability reports were issued biennially (2014–2019) and annually from 2020.
In 2024, SIPEF’s Sustainability Statement was prepared in full compliance with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). It also underwent external limited assurance, reinforcing the accuracy and reliability of the disclosed information. More information on the scope of this assurance is available here.
In addition to regulatory reporting, SIPEF engages in a range of sustainability benchmarks and ratings to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
All recent integrated reports and sustainability reports from earlier years are available in the Investors section of the website here.
Stakeholder Engagement
Regular dialogue and long-term partnerships are key to the success of SIPEF’s Balanced Growth Strategy, helping ensure that the views of those affected by, and influencing, its operations are actively considered.
SIPEF places strong emphasis on understanding and engaging with stakeholders as part of its sustainability strategy. Stakeholder groups include, but are not limited to:
- Customers
- Shareholders and investors
- Local communities and smallholders
- NGOs (environmental and social)
- Technical consultants, researchers and peers
- Governments and regulatory bodies
Engagement takes place through regular meetings, questionnaires, site visits and participation in industry platforms. At the operational level, teams work closely with smallholders, local communities and public authorities. Technical experts and NGOs contribute to assessments, training and continuous improvement.
Feedback from stakeholders helps shape SIPEF’s key strategies. It also supports transparent reporting, effective grievance handling and compliance with sustainability standards.
A detailed overview of SIPEF’s stakeholders, engagement approaches and key outcomes is available in the Integrated Annual Report.
Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration
SIPEF actively contributes to initiatives and platforms that promote responsible production and sector-wide sustainability transformation. These collaborative efforts strengthen knowledge-sharing, policy development and environmental and social innovation.
Key initiatives include:
Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO)
SIPEF has been a member of the RSPO since 2005 and holds a seat on the Board of Governors, representing ‘Rest-of-the-World’ growers. The Group actively contributes to a wide range of RSPO working bodies, including the Biodiversity & HCV Working Group, the Jurisdictional Approach Working Group, the Compensation Task Force, the Living Wage Task Force, and the No Deforestation Joint Steering Group and the Standards Standing Committee.
High Conservation Value Network (HCVN)
SIPEF is a member of the HCV Network since 2024. HCV Network is a global network that promotes the High Conservation Value (HCV) Approach, a methodology to identify and protect nature and local livelihoods in development sites.
