Certifications 

Plantations J. Eglin is committed to operating as a sustainable company, with respect for the environment and for the social well-being of its employees and neighbouring communities.

In line with this commitment, the company has been certified to several recognised standards:

GLOBALG.A.P. (since 2006)
Rainforest Alliance (since 2016)
Fairtrade (since 2019)


In addition, Plantations J. Eglin has been a supplier member of Sedex since 2008 and is periodically audited in accordance with the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) methodology.

GLOBAL G.A.P.

GLOBALG.A.P. is a set of standards focused on good agricultural practices including food safety and traceability; environment (including biodiversity), workers’ health, safety, and welfare; and animal welfare.

SIPEF is committed to maintaining its GLOBALG.A.P. certifications for its banana operations.

Rainforest Alliance

The Rainforest Alliance (RA) is an international non-governmental organisation working at the intersection of business, agriculture, and forests to promote sustainable living. The RA Sustainable Agriculture Standard is considered one of the leading standards in the agricultural sector, and covers environmental, social, and economic activity.

Plantations J.Eglin is committed to the full certification of its banana operations to the RA Sustainable Agriculture Standard.

Sedex

Sedex is one of the world’s leading ethical trade service providers, acting to improve working conditions in global supply chains.

Plantations J. Eglin has been a member of Sedex since 2008.

Fairtrade

Fairtrade certification is based on a partnership between producers and consumers, with the goal of improving lives and reducing poverty through ethical trade practices.

All of Plantations J.Eglin's banana estates have been Fairtrade certified since 2020.
